Online Blackjack Rules

The Online Blackjack Rules are pretty similar when playing at the different Microgaming Online Casinos that we have to offer on our online gambling website. Whether you may decide to play Classic Blackjack, Atlantic City Blackjack,

Vegas Strip Blackjack or other versions, you will find that basic rules for the game are pretty standard with some minor differences depending upon the game.

The following are the basic Online Blackjack Rules:

The Card Values

In any game of online Blackjack the idea is to get a hand as close to 21 (Blackjack) without going over. If you do go over 21 your hand is a bust and you automatically lose.

Online Blackjack may be played with anywhere from one to eight standard decks of playing cards with no jokers. The cards valued from 2 to 10 are valued at their normal face value and the face cards (Q, K, and J) have a value of 10.

In Blackjack whether you are to play online or at a land based casino the Ace may be valued at 1 0r 11. If you had a Ace valued at 11 it is called a soft hand and if your hand had a 2 ,4 and an Ace it would be called a soft 17. If you had an Ace valued at 1 it would called a hard hand and if your hand had a 7, 9 ands an Ace it would be called a hard 17.

Starting the Game of Blackjack

To start a game of online Blackjack you are first dealt two cards which are both face up while the dealer is dealt one card face up and one face down which is called the hole card. If your first two cards consist of an Ace and a 10 value card you then have a Blackjack and are an automatic winner unless the dealer gets a Blackjack as well, then you have a tie known as a push.

If you do not receive a Blackjack with your first two cards, you will then have to play your hand.

Blackjack Rules and Terms

Stand: You take no more cards and the action passes to the dealer to play his hand.

Hit: When you ask for another card. You may continue to hit until either you decide to stand or end up going bust

Double Down: This is a scenario where you double your bet, then receive only one more card and then you stand. With some Blackjack games you are allowed to double down on any two cards while other games of Blackjack you may only double down if your two cards have a total of 9, 10 or 11.

Surrender: This is a situation in some Blackjack games where if you think you are going to lose the hand, that you are allowed to surrender your hand and lose only half your bet.

SplitIf the first two cards that are dealt to you are of the same denomination, you are allowed to split your hand. Each of these cards becomes the first card in your two new hands and an amount equal to your initial bet is placed on each new hand. You will receive a second for each hand and you play each hand according to the regular Blackjack rules.

Depending upon the variation of Blackjack that you are playing the rules may vary when splitting your hand. With some variations of Blackjack you may be allowed to split one of your new hands if you receive two cards of the same denomination and this situation is known as resplitting. In other versions of Blackjack you may be allowed to split two 10 value cards of different denominations such as a Queen and a King. As well other versions of Blackjack allow you to double down after splitting while others don't.

Online Blackjack Rules for the Dealer' Hand

The following are the Online Blackjack Rules that apply to the Dealer' hand:

  • Hit:If the dealer's hand is 16 or less the dealer must hit.
  • Stand:with a hard 17 or when the dealer gets an 18 or more, the dealer must stand.
  • Soft 17A soft 17 is where the rules may differ between the variations of Blackjack. In some versions of Blackjack the dealer is allowed to hit a soft 17 while in other versions of Blackjack they must stand.

The Winning Hand According to the Online Blackjack Rules

The following are the different winning hands in a game of online Blackjack:

  • If you get a natural Blackjack with a 10 and an Ace with your first two cards and the dealer doesn't you are the winner with a payout of 3 to 2. All other wins in Blackjack are at a payout of 1 to 1.
  • If you stand without busting and the dealer busts with his hand, you win that hand.
  • If neither you or the dealer busts, the hand with the higher value is the winner.
  • If both you and the dealer have a hand of the same value, you then have a tie and this is known as a push and neither of you win or lose any money.

We hope that our Online Blackjack Rules will help you to be a better player and may You be the Winner when playing at either an online casino or a land based casino.
